Nano Coatings are making changes in how corrosion protection is applied on aerospace alloys and components. Aerospace coatings have often been pioneered in the space environment while the aero environment would lean toward traditional solutions and migrate to newer technologies over time. Maintenance cost can be reduced through the use of nanocoatings, this is due to the extended life-span of the coatings and the increased on-the-wing time resulting from a longer lasting coating. This is particularly true in military aviation, but also in general and commercial aviation.
